CSL UPDATE

Hello ALL,

Still suffering from the seemingly endless midterms...THREE more than I am done :) Suddendly wanted to wrtie something about my CSL placement during a break in Cameron Library...

Basically at this stage,  I am still working on the first part of my whole project. For this part, I am supposed to creat a short report with regard to the use of twitter as a social communication tool among various non-profit organizations and thereby bringing about some useful ideas for AB Caregiver Association to make a further improvement and this way, hopefully can help them draw attention from more people, especially the "current" caregivers who are yet to get to know the critical role they are playing in a efficiently manner.

Honestly, prior to looking into this issue, I have not been exposed to the idea of what a caregiver is responsible for. In general, a caregiver has been defined as an individual who continuously provide unpaid care for his or her beloved ones who are currently confronting with various challenges due to physical or mental illness.

No matter if you have noticed or not, 4 to 5 million Canadians are being caregivers. Apart from their occupational routine work, they have to devote most of their spare time to taking care of their spouses, parents or children who are lacking the basic ability to live independently. The above exhausting conditions might be caused by the presence of severe chronic disease, devolopmental disorder, mental deficiency or disability . That being said, the quality of a caregivers' life could be greatly affected since it is almost impossible for them to balance their obligations and personal social life. The absence of supportive voices can make this situation even worse and therefore, the AB caregiver Association  is exclusively dedicated to ensuring that each individual caregiver who is in need of emotional care can find someone to turn to.

There is one program called COMPASS has impressed me the most, especially the slogan" in order to care for aloved one, they must care for themselves." By participating in this program, lots of caregivers who have undergone the moment of depression changed their attitude towards life in a positive way.

Business Facebook Profile

It is a given that once you identify yourself as being a part of this fast-changing digital age you can by no means avoid involving in hundreds of social networks on the Internet. In fact, social networking has mingled with each component of our life mutually. That being said, it is being considered as a must for job seekers in nearly each field, with a little effort on our own part, we can actually gain access to be online visible in front of a variety of industrial recruiters and thereby, furthering our job hunt in an unexpectedly efficient fashion.
Among many online social network tools, Facebook is one of the most popular sites offering a friendly community. And like most social communication networks, Facebook basically cost nothing to join, meanwhile, it is of great fun to be a part of. However, I take it for granted that  facebook lends itself to being a casual instant “live messenger” which functions primarily as a medium for people to engage in chitchat or say, to talk gossips.
Having been introduced to various online social networks during, I came to understand that, yet somehow informal in nature, a facebook profile page could be used as a business-oriented personal “name-card”, aligned with a brief statement of future occupational objectives. Once we are set at a job search mode we should definitely take advantage of any existing resources that we possess. In fact, for the purpose of having a deeper understanding of their future employees, most experienced HR personnel will be carrying out an online search before hiring someone and in most cases, your facebook page happens to appear above any other online identities. In that sense, its importance cannot be ignored anymore. In terms of flexibility, compared with hard copy version resume, its electronic form can be easily modified in accordance with the contemporary trends. If you have trouble coming with a most “updated” and personalized resume, it is about time for you to pop up your online profile page, this way, you might stay connected with numerous well-known companies and with enough browsing, you can also concisely get a hang of what they are wanting from you. It seems to be a small step, but the difference would be influential.
To go ahead of time, I have registered for a new facebook account geared towards commercial use , which I believe, could hold significant marketing potential for my future job hunt upon completion of my degree studies. In order to make it more attractive, I included my education, my pervious work experience along with the skills and knowledge that I have obtained from the past activities on this compact page to demonstrate that I am capable of what I am applying for.

Being Excited About My Very First Post...

Hello all,

To be honest this is my first time of writing something on a blog...Well, my name is Duo Zhi and I am currently enrolled at the nutrition program offered by the faculty of ALES. This is my second year of being at the U of A while I have just switched out to the nutrition major. In fact, there seems to be a continuing concern of the foods we eat everyday since it has been commonly accepted that naturally existed nutrients can be assist in the prevention of many chronic diseases. Upon the completion of my degree studies and hopefully the integrated dietetic internship, I will be trying out to work at a healthcare setting so as to help people with medical needs change their lives in a positive way in a direct manner...Through ages, the identity of dietetics has been recognized as a profession primarily dominated by Caucasian females since it is part of the allied healthcare team. Although a few courageous voices stand up for men entering this field, it is still being considered inappropriate for the general public...but anyways, this is not the ground for me to abstain from becoming an dietitian since I do have a passion for it.

As I know, communication, regardless of its varied forms is currently and will be continuously playing a critical role in my field of study. First off, in terms of the utility of social communication tools, I would say the most efficient way for me to keep updated with the latest nutritional care findings is to read through the monthly electronic newsletters sent by Dietitians of Canada. On a more personal note, being a dietitian, the ability to communicate effectively with patients and other health care practitioners is not an asset but a definite must. In addition, the importance of written communication cannot be ignored as well, as I realize, some people might not be comfortable with face-to-face conversation. Under such circumstances, strong written skills would be required to make everything clear.
